A BATTLE TO WIN By Delma Thompson All around our nation's hall, Conservatives
send out the call To all those who share their bias to raise
their voices, loud or pious. For the once great party surrendered all to the
Freedom Caucus siren call. Though smoke and mirrors used to hide it, True
colors now exposed do guide it. Now they fight by fang and claw to make
religious beliefs the law. It matters not what others brought, what
sacrifices, wars they fought. Where the Right’s in charge and feelings bold,
they want to rule your very soul. Liberty's bell? It falls apart, destroyed by
those with little heart. They sit in church on Sunday morning, feeling
smug but full scorn. Ignoring Jesus’ voice and words to love their
neighbor, his pleas unheard. Instead they vow to bring to grief, others who
have their own beliefs. For those who hear a different drum, for those
who struggle more than some. For those whose skin is black or brown, or
selfhood calls for a different pronoun. For those sweet children already born who die
too often in a bullet storm. Now teachers who spent many years attaining
education Are told by screaming parents to alter their
direction. “Forget the truth, just make it nice so
children won't feel bad.” Guess now days kids aren't capable of handling
fact … so sad. For those in charge have their convictions, no
matter what that covers. Demanding strict obedience from any and all
others. The party of little government now strains its
narrow bounds, Pushing ever outward, taking over towns. So stay involved and use your vote, or you will
come to grief, Cause they'll never stop encroaching ‘til you
bow to their beliefs.
